If you could travel to anywhere right now, where would it be? My answer: Italy.
Summary: Emilia is born into a family with a generational curse that dictates every second-born daughter will never find love. She doesn’t believe in this silly superstition, but she couldn’t help but notice the pattern. Now at 29, she’s single and content in her Brooklyn apartment, but when her big Italian family continues to pity and silence her, enough becomes enough. Then, a trip to Italy with her wild cousin and estranged great-aunt (also second-borns) changes everything.
Rating: 5 out of 5 - The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany, you blew me away. This is a wholesome story, rich with imagery that drips of honey, and a witty protagonist you befriend, love, and defend. Emilia’s present-day narrative is interlaced with Aunt Poppy’s memories during the 1960s, which ends up revealing family secrets, explanations, and, above all else, a love story that stands against time—and war. Throughout the book, I laughed, cried, and swore, and—you guys know I hate when romance stories feel predictable/unrealistic—this ending was anything but. It was epic and heartfelt, yet perfectly imperfect. — @LisaStoried
