Nominated for the Women’s Prize for Fiction 2021, No One is Talking About This is one of the most relevant and yet time-lasting books I've ever read. Without a doubt the best word for it is interesting! It was one of the most weird and wonderful books I’ve read in 2021, if not ever. It had me laughing out loud in public, crying my eyes out in public and yet I still wasn’t totally sure what was going on half the time? It lifted my spirits and crushed them all at once.

No One Is Talking About This follows the life of an accidental social media influencer (where social media is denoted the ‘portal') in a portal obsessed world. She finds herself in a spiral of loneliness, sadness and confusion as she struggles to identify which parts of her are her and which parts are the portal, while battling family drama and a real world that is descending into chaos.

The writing is this was sooo unique and uses the most intense details that make up a broad and largely undetermined storyline. Saying that, there were actually a lot of deep and meaningful messages behind the storyline and despite the characters being frustrating, they were definitely likeable, which made the read really enjoyable. With short chapters to make it digestible, I read this in 2 days, nearly all in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.

Honestly, I loved it.
